RE: [RRS Run Group] Re: Newbe

Hey Leo,
I really like my Garmin FR 10.  It is the lowest priced Garmin with GPS, but still has some great features:
* Multiple customized screens with pace, time, miles, lap time, history, etc.
* It is waterproof and works great for Tri's
* Optional Auto pause for when my dog takes a potty break (about 10x every run!)
* A small size and long battery that allows me to wear it as an everyday watch (3 weeks w/o GPS, about 1 week with GPS used on runs)
* Full Garmin connect website like Kristy mentioned below.

But it doesn't have touch screen, heart rate monitor or vibration alert.  I've had Nike, Polar, and more elaborate Garmin's, but like this one best.
If you're at the run tomorrow in Westminster, I'll let you check it out.

Welcome to the group.

I have a Garmin 610 and love it.  It's easy to use and it has a touch screen which works well for me (even in rain and snow and when I wear gloves).  One of its features (that the other models don't have - although I'm not sure of the 910) is the vibration alert which I like on my long runs.  Also, the garmin connect website is pretty good and I use it as part of  my training log.  I've even taken my Garmin on hikes and when walking around Washington DC and other places where I ended up walking a lot.

I am not familiar with Timex watches.

Good luck.

Sorry that has taken so long to get back to you.

The Garmin GPS or Timex GPS are the best out there. They both have several lines which offer lots of options. It really starts with what you want to use the GPS for. The Garmin ForeRunner 10 is a great entry level GPS. The top of the line Garmin is the 910. That is great for Triathletes.

Check out the websits for both GARMIN and TIMEX and go through the different options and models.

[RRS Run Group] February 1 run

Hey all, 3W is sponsoring a neighborhood run tomorrow at RRS at 9:00 (bib pickup starting at 8:30).  It's a 5K out and back.  I think I'm going to go to that tomorrow instead of showing up at 8:00.  Hopefully some of you will join me!  3W says it's on rain or shine, and they do ask that you register on their website if you are coming so that they have enough bibs.  Stay warm everyone!

I will be posting meet up dates, VIP events, and other stuff based on our conversation last Saturday.  Thanks for you suggestions.
