Re: FW: email to band parents from Ms. Hatcher

Hi Everyone,

There is a change to the schedules listed in Ms Hatcher's email.  Schedule changes can be made at the following times today:

9am - 12pm  Juniors and Seniors

1pm - 3:30pm  Freshman and Sophomors

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks,

Margaret Howell

Dear Band Parents,

As the fall semester ends, I have a few pertinent things I'd like you all to be aware of.

First of all, schedule changes for the spring semester occur tomorrow and we have 27 students in band who need to fix their schedule due to band classes. Both students and counselors know what change they need to make. Junior/Senior schedule changes happen all day, 9 AM-3 PM, and freshman/sophomore changes are from 12 PM-3 PM. Listed below are all the students who need to change their schedule. If your student is on this list, they must show up tomorrow to get their schedule fixed.

I would also like to let you know how our percussion ensemble is going to work in the spring. First of all, ANY student has the option of taking the 7th hour percussion class. This class will teach students how to play all the percussion instruments, and they will also be performing on our spring concert on May 2nd. This gives students a great opportunity to learn a new instrument while also perfecting rhythmic skills on their main instrument. We also have a percussion ensemble that will meet every Thursday 5:00-8:00 PM. It is mandatory that all percussion students attend the Thursday evening percussion ensemble. If there are any conflicts, percussion students need to see me. This ensemble is also optional for anyone else to join; no experience is necessary. The staff are very excited about the potential and all the possibilities of the after-school percussion ensemble. Students will play in smaller ensembles based on their ability level and they will also have many performance opportunities throughout the semester, including our concert on 5/2. The fee to join the 7th hour class or the after school percussion ensemble is $50.00. This is the rental price for percussion, so if your student has already paid this fee for the year, then there is no cost.

As a clarification, these will be sectional times for the spring:

Woodwinds: Monday, 6-8 PM

Brass: Mondays, exact times to be determined in January

Percussion: Thursdays, 5-8 PM

Color Guard: Tues/Thur, 4-8 PM

Without giving away too many secrets, the staff are hard at work planning our marching show for next year. We're super excited about it, and it feels great to have this much time to plan a show for the following year! The show is going to be fairly percussion heavy, so I would highly encourage your student to be apart of the percussion ensemble...this will greatly help them for the fall! :)

Something else that has been in the works for a few months now, and has officially been approved is that next fall symphonic band, concert band, percussion ensemble, and color guard will be classes students take during the day, and marching band will be after school. We are also adding a History of Rock and Roll class. Exact schedules are still to be determined, but I wanted you to hear from me that this is how marching band will work next year. All the staff see this as extremely positive, and we're very happy the school has supported us in this change. This gives us the opportunity to recruit students from schools that do not have a marching band, as well as 8th graders from Moore. Also, students will become more proficient on their instrument since they will be in a concert ensemble year round, rather than just the spring semester. More info will follow as we continue planning for next year.

I'd like to say congratulations to the following students who were accepted to honor bands this year!

Larenz Aguina-Lynch

Megan Bowyer

Dylan Brule

Nate Deanda

Ryan Heller

Brian Hensel

Kaitlin Henderson

John Kempsell

I'm so proud of them, and the hard work they put into preparing for auditions! We're still waiting to hear back from a few more honor bands, so we may have even more students who were accepted. I will be sending honor band travel info to students/parents over the break.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and I look forward to a great spring semester teaching your student!

Bingo stuff again

Hello Everyone!

Well since the end of the world didn't happen I guess we better turn our thoughts to bingo lol

I am still looking for some items to give away this Sunday night as customer appreciation baskets. If you have anything please let me know.

Also for December 30th we need HELP!!!!  This is a 5th Sunday so we do not currently have a team set up, but we still MUST run bingo. PLEASE step up and volunteer to work. Remember that bingo is the reason we are not paying $900 for band... it is a SERIOUS fund raiser that we cannot do without!
We need at least 5 more parents to step up and work!

Thanks everyone

Reminders!

Hi Everyone!

Please remember to go to Pomona on Friday, December 21 if you need to have your students schedule changed.  Their auditions will be completed by then and they should know which band they are in for the spring semester.

Also, thank you to everyone that contributed to the bake sale!  We made $300.00 for the band and what was left was taken to the Bingo Hall to sell. It was very fun and successful and we look forward to offering this again.

Have a wonderful break.  Hug your kids and love your families!  Say a prayer for those who have suffered such a terrible tragedy in Connecticut.

My best you all of you.

Lorrie

Bingo thoughts

Hello Everyone!

Another year of bingo almost done WOW!

I would like to have a customer appreciation giveaway at the December 23rd session.  I am hoping I can get some people to donate stuff to put into baskets or just give away.

We could use, Christmas candles, candies, knick nacks, ornaments, ect
or any items you may have that is a stand alone gift.

I would like at least 2 baskets/gifts (one per session) but more would be fun.

Let me know if you can help. Thanks  :o)

Another thought...
We are in need of some replacements for teams members that are leaving. Currently we are in need of a Caller for team 2 and several general workers for team 2.
We will also need another manager by March. None of these are hard jobs, actually it is kinda fun!  PLEASE step up and help. Let's keep the band fees low (who knows, if we can get bingo profit up the fees might even go DOWN!!! )

Third thought...
This month is a 5 week month, therefore we have no team set up for that night. So we need volunteers. It is December 30th this year. PLEASE volunteer, I am guessing it will be a great night... all those people who got money for Christmas will want to spend it!!!

Call or email me if you can help with any of these things  :o)

Thanks for being the BEST Band Parent group ever!!!

Tomorrow nights concert and sale

Hi Families!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Band and Orchestra concert tomorrow night, 7:00 PM at Pomona!

As you know, we will be having a bake sale to raise money for the band.  If you are contributing items, please bring them no later than 6:00 PM to the foyer outside of the Auditorium.  Myself, Karen Langen and Patty Adler will be there to greet you.  It has also been suggested to add gently used holiday gift items that you may want to donate for sale.  Please bring them as well, some people may find your items just what they have always wanted!

There is no charge for the concert tomorrow but we will be excepting canned food to donate to the Arvada Food Bank as well as monetary donations that will be shared between the band and orchestra.

Happy Holidays!

Lorrie

Dec. 13th Scrip Order & Safeway Reloadable Cards

Scrip Order/Gift Cards:

The next Scrip Order will be placed on Dec. 13th after the winter concert, this is the last order being placed before Christmas.  If you or your family members, co-workers, neighbors, etc need to order any gift cards, please fill out the form and get this back to me by the end of that night.  I will place the Dec. 13th order as an expedited order, so that it will be back by Monday, Dec. 17th evening possibly Tues, Dec. 18th if delayed on their processing as it is very close to the holidays.

This is a great time to order for the holidays or teacher gifts, and put some money in your student’s band account in the process. There are many retailers right now with an increased percentage as well.  Some of the many that have increased percentages are: Applebee’s, Bass Pro Shop, Red Robin, and Starbucks… to name just a few.  There are over 900+ retailers listed out on www.glscrip.com.

There are several different options to get the order to me: 1. Red box   2. Hand deliver (at winter concert, any time to me, deliver to my house,  give to Meggan Langan) 3. Other arrangements – just let me know.  If I do not receive it personally, please send me an email so that I know where to look for the order.

Safeway Cards:

I will also have these Safeway Reloadable cards available that night at the concert.  This is also a great way to put money back into your student’s account while buying your groceries, gas, gift cards, etc.  This is something that you can involve your other family members, neighbors, co-workers, etc.  The more people involved in the fundraising, the more that goes into your student’s band account.

Please let me know if you have any questions on either of these fundraising programs.

Thank you

Re: Student accounts

Thank you for the email, however, my family has moved. She (Elena) has not been with Pomona since June, and has been marching with LHS Crimson Regiment since July thanks to the move. I hope you are all well and blessed in this holiday season.

Subject: Student accounts

Attention parents of students that have not had any activity on their students account.

Please log in and check your accounts.  We are at a critical point in our fiscal season and will be reviewing accounts before the end of the year.

If you need to make special arrangements for paying your fees you need to see Ms. Hatcher.

Our student accounts need to be made current as soon as possible.

Thank you, Lorrie
